What a whirlwind of excitement the past few months! We hosted our first mobile medical trip with Sante Haiti! With the help of the team from Sante Haiti both organizations were able to work together and provide medical care to over 700 patients in only three days! The community of Fon Pou were so grateful that they have been expressing their gratitude to our team still after May.
You may be wondering why we brought in medical into an organization that promotes self-sustainability and economic development. The answer is simple. We want our communities in Haiti to be able to work and provide for themselves without the help of Aid. But for the people of Haiti to work they have to be healthy. So with this simple aspect in mind working with Sante Haiti was a simple decision.
As a result of this trip and successful collaboration Sante Haiti has decided to make Fon Pou more permanent announcing they will begin raising funds to build a clinic and begin providing more regular care to the community. This plan is still in the infant stages but this news is extremely exciting not only to the community we serve but to us as we have more partnership on board!
So… what’s the next step for the medical clinics? Sante Haiti and SoudeHaiti are in the process of planning the next mobile medical clinic for Spring 2018. Dates to be announced soon. We are still collecting medical items for the clinic, seeds for the community, and donations to buy other needed supplies for the clinic. Feel free to click here to see our list of supplies and purchase directly from Amazon! The lists of supplies needed for the next mobile medical clinic is below!
This is a huge step forward for both organizations and for the community so we are ecstatic for this next project.
